What is SABS Certification?

1.The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) was established in accordance with the "National Standards Act" promulgated in 1945 and is a subsidiary organization of South Africa Trade and Industry department. SABS is a neutral third-party certification body in South Africa and is mainly engaged in system certification and product certification.

2.SABS is a mandatory certification.it not only sets standards, but also represents the country to manage the mandatory standards,and grants the right to enterprises to use the mark for products that meet the standards. In addition, it issues certificates to enterprises which meet ISO9001 and ISO9002, and represents the state and some major purchasers to do the pre-shipment inspections and tests.

SABS Mark:

Prerequisites for acquiring SABS

1.The product must be complied with SABS/SANS national standard;
2.The product must have passed the corresponding standard test;
3.The quality system meets ISO9000 requirements or other specified requirements;
4.SABS mark can only be used after the product and quality system meet  the requirements;
5.Routine product tests should be conducted under guidance and submit and disclose test results;
6.The quality system must be assessed at least 2 times a year and full-content assessment is required.

South Africa SABS product certification scope

SABS certification is divided into two categories: product certification and system certification. SABS product certification mainly includes the following eight categories: chemical products, biological products, fiber products and clothing, mechanical products, safety equipment, electrical products, civil engineering and construction, and automotive products. Among them, the building materials and products involved are: stone products, concrete products, roofing materials, cement, lime, cement mixture, natural building stone, safety glass, steel structure, wood and wood products, brick, tile, paint, Coatings, sealants, etc.

In 2017, Dongdian Testing passed the SABS laboratory review in South Africa and obtained the laboratory authorization from SABS. It is the only laboratory in South Africa with qualifications in South Africa!
